Leonard Garcia's thoughts on The Burn Machine Speed Bag
For over eleven years, Leonard Garcia has competed as a Mixed Martial Artist with several big-name promotions – notably the WEC and UFC, utilizing his unique combination of submission maneuvers and knockout striking.
The Burn Machine’s Joey Russo got the chance to speak with Leonard to discuss his thoughts about The Burn Machine’s products, The Speed Bag and Universal.
RUSSO: In regard to The Speed Bag, please elaborate on why The Speed Bag is a great tool for your arms, shoulders, core, cardio, and entire upper-body.
GARCIA: I think that it’s a great tool only because you can be so mobile with it, you can move all different directions. You know if your arms start burning in a certain position you want to just quit when you’re doing something and with this thing you can lower the elevation of it and start burning a totally different area and go back to it. It’s a cool machine, I mean at any time that you feel like stopping if you lower it down you feel like you can keep going so it keeps the exercises going. Like I said, you’re mobile with it, so you can catch different parts of the muscle groups that you couldn’t catch on a regular speed bag or any other machine.
RUSSO: Explain the differences and versatility between The Speed Bag and a conventional speed bag. How does The Speed Bag provide a back-to-basics mentality when training?
GARCIA: A conventional speed bag has always been a great tool. Of course, boxers have used it since the beginning of time – but a conventional speed bag is boring. I mean you’re in one place, you’re stationary, and you’re staring at the wall. There’s nowhere to go, there’s nothing to do, and once that burn gets into your shoulders you start to miss a step. If you start doing everything with the machine it keeps your fluid rotation a certain way so it keeps you performing what you’re doing with the proper mechanics of it at all times. Because you know if you get out-of-wack with it you can just keep it straight and it works out. You can move all around with it, you’re not stuck in one spot, which everyone knows – that’s boring. It’s like being on a treadmill; you’re just sitting there doing the same thing over and over. With this machine you can go over your head, you can go out to either side [of your body], you get all areas of the shoulders, not just one part like a speed bag.
