Stress Makes You Fat

Higher levels of cortisol causes your body to deposit more fat at waist-level, resulting in the "apple" shape.

Stress is bad for you only when it is unrelenting.  Like when you never shut off your four-alarm response.  To protect against it's ill effects:
  • Build activities into your life that give you downtime: meditate, exercise and socialize.
  • Take care of yourself. Get a decent night's sleep. Treat yourself gently, like an expensive piece of equipment that's worth babying.
  • Remember: It's all relative.  When everyday life seems too tough to handle, compare it with a truly difficult situation.  Feels better, eh?
We're not going to get rid of stress, but we can change our reactions, physical and mental.  That's the key.  People have it within their power to make changes.  We each have our destiny in our own hands.
